The Science Behind the Product:
Recent research designed on cancer-fighting plant compounds demonstrates that a combination of botanical agents with UV- blocking compounds can suppress and repair sun-damage .
It is widely known that different wavelengths of sunlight radiation present different levels of risk. UVA rays are wavelengths ranging from about 315 to 400 nanometres — were once thought to have minor skin effects. Studies now report that UVA penetrates the skin much deeper than UVB . Furthermore, it is crucial to block UVA rays and to prevent cellular damage done by UVA rays that get through. Plant extracts inhibit UV skin damage . Plant extracts from green tea, licorice, milk thistle, and rosemary which were shown to have beneficial inflammatory, anticancer, and DNA-protective effects can be found in Shade Factor Sunscreen Spray, SPF 30.
UVB rays are wavelengths which range from 280 to about 315 nanometres. These wavelengths are strongest around midday. They affect the superficial layer of the skin known as the epidermis and cause sunburns. . The sunscreen formula has an ability to block UVA rays. Shade Factor Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 contains the active ingredients Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 10%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 8% which can protect against UV skin damage.
