Health benefits at a glance:
For more than 30 years, Life Extension has been at the very forefront of industry-leading Omega-3 supplements since we first pointed out that Omega-3 can promote heart health.
Life Extension Omega-3 EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Extract contains Omega-3 oil that can support your cardiovascular system, cognitive health, and a healthy response to inflammation.
Why it works:
Omega-3 EPA/DHA with Sesame Lignans & Olive Extract features a pure, fresh fish oil made from sustainably-sourced anchovy from the South Pacific coast of Chile.
Studies indicate that the Mediterranean diet is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and is considered one of the healthiest diets in the world. An abundance of scientific research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil have wide-ranging health benefits [10-18].
The Super Omega-3 formula provides a highly concentrated olive extract which can give you as much polyphenol as can be found in up to 8–12 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
Oleuropein Polyphenols found in olive oil can alter gene expression favourably [20], can support delaying cell aging in specialized skin cells [21] and also help maintain normal thrombocyte activation [22].
Furthermore, Super Omega-3 provides standardized sesame lignans to enhance the stability of the essential fatty acid DHA in your body [23,24].
The science behind the product:
Researchers have found that omega-3-fatty acids from fish oil and the monounsaturated fatty acids and polyphenols in olive fruit is associated with a vast array of health benefits [10-18]. Researchers have also reported that Omega-3 plays a role in cardiovascular health [25-27].
Super Omega-3 provides a standardized olive fruit extract packed with the polyphenol hydroxytyrosol, a powerful antioxidant that can protect normal low-density lipoprotein (LDL) from oxidation and counters free radicals [28-32]. LDL carries cholesterol from the liver to cells that require it.
About 8% of the brain is comprised of omega-3 fatty acids [34]. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are found in fish/fish oils play essential roles in neuronal structure and function.
It shields them from oxidative damage, inflammation, and the cumulative destruction caused by other chronic insults [35, 36].
Scientists also reported that the combination of olive fruit with fish oil supplements can support inflammatory response compared to placebo or fish oil alone [33].
