The beneficial bacteria strain used in FLORASSIST® Daily Bowel Regularity is Bifidobacterium lactis HN019.
It can help fight occasional constipation in as little as 14 days by encouraging the production of specific short chain fatty acids that can help your digestive system “move things along”.
Why it works:
There are many of ways to support digestive health and increase regularity and, but not every solution is right for every person. How does Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 do it?
The answer lies in particular short-chain fatty acids (or SCFAs) produced within your digestive tract. B. lactis HN019 encourages SCFA production. This in turn sets off a chain reaction that “speeds up” the contents of your digestive tract. (1-3)
The science behind the product:
Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 used in FLORASSIST® Daily Bowel Regularity was first isolated from yogurt produced in New Zealand. (4) There are over 2,000 strains of active cultures in bacteria, but B. lactis HN019 is different.
Clinical studies with B. lactis HN019
In a triple-blind clinical study, 88 men and women with mild occasional constipation were given either a low dose of B. lactis HN019, a high dose or a placebo.
Low-dose results
When taken once a day for two weeks those receiving the lower dose of B. lactis HN019 reported a 31% increase in colonic transit time, or (CTT). Your CTT is the time it takes your food to move through your digestive system. (1)
High-dose results
- While a 31% increase is good, the high-dose HN019 group did even better! Their CTTs increased by 57 percent.
- In addition, the high-dose participants reported significant decreases in occasional digestive discomforts that they had been experiencing prior to the study.
