Choline

The brain and nervous systems need choline to regulate memory, mood, and muscle control, among other functions.

We need choline to form the membranes that surround our body's cells. A small amount of choline is made in the liver, but most of the choline in your body comes from diet.

Choline benefits

  • It helps the making of another brain chemical called acetylcholine increase in two parts of the brain.
  • Acetylcholine is important for our memory and how we learn.
  • A small amount of choline is made in the liver, but most of the choline in your body comes from diet.

Choline supplement

Having enough choline is important for our brain's ability to make acetylcholine, especially when the brain is working hard or under stress.

Adding extra choline to the diet alone does not necessarily mean that our brains will make more acetylcholine; unless there's a need for it.
