Liquorice DGL and side effects
Glycyrrhizinates, compounds found in liquorice, at high doses, can lead to various side effects such as:

To avoid these side effects, scientists have discovered a solution. Removing glycyrrhizin from liquorice doesn't diminish its effectiveness in relieving ulcer symptoms and inhibiting the growth of H. pylori bacteria. This modified liquorice is called deglycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL.
Coating aspirin with licorice reduced rat ulcers by half, while combining DGL with cimetidine further lowered stomach damage, and human aspirin takers with DGL had less blood loss.
