Olive
Polyphenol compounds in olive oil can promote cardiovascular and endothelial health.
They can help maintain already-healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels. But not all olive oils are the same.
Benefits of olive oil
Olive oil, which is produced from the "vegetable" (but really, the fruit) and not the seed, is likely one of the healthiest oils.
It has been shown to support:
- healthy blood sugar
- heart and vascular health
- anti-inflammatory response
- brain health
- bone health …and more!
Be careful as to not buy counterfeit olive oil, as it can lack the benefits in which extra virgin olive oil possesses. Genuine extra virgin olive oil is an ideal oil for sautéing, however if it has been mixed with inferior oils, it will have a lower smoke point.
Olive oil contains unsaturated fats which are associated with having good health outcomes.
Olives as snacks
Snacking on olives is a healthier food in order to curb your salty cravings. There's nothing as satisfyingly salty as a tender, juicy olive, whether you prefer the kalamata variety, or you like your olives black.
Olives have health benefits similar to extra virgin olive oil, and just a handful of them can be very satisfying.
